Who we are 

The National Logistics Academy is a specialist training organisation dedicated to developing the skills and talent pipeline for the UK’s retail and logistics sector. The Academy was created to give employers a national solution to leverage the Apprenticeship Levy and deliver operational and skills training for logistics. 

What we do 

• We are addressing the acute HGV driver shortage, and broader skills gap in logistics, across the UK - delivering talent programmes that bring new entrants into the industry and support employers to develop a customer-focused, safe and compliant workforce.  

• Our programmes attract fresh talent into logistics while developing and upskilling existing employees – supporting career progression and raising standards across the sector.  

Our core services 

We deliver a wide range of solutions tailored to the needs of logistics employers, including: 

• Apprenticeships across logistics and transport, covering key roles such as HGV driving, transport operations, warehousing, and freight forwarding. 

• National commercial training in driving, forklift truck operations, and specialist logistics disciplines, ensuring employers can access consistent, high-quality provision. 

• Funding expertise, helping employers access both regional and national funding streams to support workforce development and maximise return on investment. 

Operating at scale 

Working with 30+ regional members and a network of over 50 HGV training centres, we train more than 3,000 new HGV drivers each year. Our apprenticeship achievement rates consistently outperform national averages, with distinction rates 30% above the UK benchmark for HGV programmes. We also deliver industry-leading pass rates across licence acquisition, including results 30% above the national average for Cat C and C+E upgrade training.
